For all the panelist: What is the organisation doing to advocate causes that produces issues you are dealing with?
Zarrin C.
01:03:08
To keep volunteers engaged longer term, you need to really use their talents/skills/passions. I find this happens a lot less than one would think. Question is strategies for short vs. longer term engagement.
Abdul Gilzay
01:03:44
How do you make sure that your volunteer selection criteria is not so restrictive that it eliminate many and only end up providing opportunities to only one set of communities, race, religion etc.
Anthony Allen
01:04:46
@Hadassah, check out Point App - they’re in three cities in Ohio and a great example of taking this sort of project deeper in a narrower geography. Y’all should connect - I met Madison years ago, would be happy to help facilitate that if you’d like.

Thank you all so much! Really appreciate the conversation as Penn alum (URBS '06). For the Penn team (or others), if I wanted to look up this world of voluntarism in academic research, what terms would you suggest? Also, I'm looking for research assistance on how to decrease the divide between professional and volunteer approaches to end homelessness for my Stanton Fellowship (LA version of the Genius Award) if there are any persons at CSIS looking/working on this subject.
